The UMMC analytical toxicology laboratory, a part of the Department of Pathology, is the only clinical laboratory in Mississippi that provides comprehensive toxicology testing. The laboratory is staffed 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday with a staff member on call 24 hours for emergency requests.

The toxicology laboratory is dedicated to providing the highest quality care to our patients and clients as quickly as possible. The laboratory offers a comprehensive test menu that includes untargeted and targeted drug screens, drug confirmation by mass spectrometry, ethylene glycol and volatile alcohols (methanol, ethanol, acetone and isopropanol). Our comprehensive mass spectrometry libraries include over 2,500 compounds and metabolites ranging from caffeine and nicotine to OTC and prescription medications, illicit drugs, and pesticides.
